Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak From Brady Era with Win Against Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five scores during the current campaign
New England matched their longest winning run since the Brady era as they defeated AFC East rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three scores as the New England squad notched an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a score, completing 25 of 34 passes
The triumph bolsters the New England's advantage at the summit of the division as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after falling to two victories and eight defeats
The Jets had scored first at their home field with quarterback Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to cap the Jets' first possession
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as the rookie scored two short rushing scores before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to make it 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He desires to be great."
Fields threw to Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the home side closed out the win
